Travel Information

Car and Ferry

If you are travelling by car and ferry, the nearest ferry ports are Caen (Ouistreham) and St Malo (both about a 6 hour drive) and Dieppe and Le Havre 6hr 30mins. Calais and Boulogne are a little further (8 hours) but often the ferry crossing is cheaper. Once on the continent and in the Dordogne area directions are here

Plane

Bergerac is just over an hour’s drive and has daily flight from several destinations. Other possible airports are Bordeaux (1hr45), Dordogne Valley (Brive) (1hr45) Poitier (2hrs), Limoges (2hrs) and La Rochelle (2hrs30mins). Flybe, Ryanair, BMI Baby, Easyjet, Jet2 and BA all have regular flights coming into the area.

Train

The nearest main/TGV train station is Angouleme from where you can get a local train to Montmoreau which is about a 15 minute drive to the yurts. Perigueux also has a train station but Angouleme generally has better connections to most places.

The journey on the Eurostar from London to Angouleme can be done in around 6 hours with one change either in Paris or in Lille and if you book well ahead it is not expensive.

We will happily pick up guests from Montmoreau train station for no charge because we love the idea of people traveling by train and then hiring bikes to get about whilst here. For a charge we can also pick you up from Angouleme station which is just under an hours’ drive away.
