We have carefully designed four yurt retreats hidden amongst the rolling hillside of the north Dordogne. They are all quite different so which one will you choose?
Each yurt has been lovingly hand-made here at Quirky Camping using willow from our own plantation. The yurts are much more than just a bedroom, having a spacious living area as well, with polished wooden floors, rugs, chairs and other furniture which we have either been given by friends or bought from local brocantes and restored, we love the idea of recycling! But you don’t just get a yurt, each retreat has it’s own quirkily built and well-equipped summer kitchen, dining terrace and BBQ, as well as a solar powered private bathroom and separate compost toilet, so you are getting much more than just a yurt to sleep in.
Laze about on your decked terrace with a book or do a bit of daydreaming and watch the day go by as you peer across the rolling hills into the distance. One thing is for sure, you’ll have peace and tranquillity and in the evening put off the fairy lights, blow out the candles, grab a glass of local wine and gaze into the clear night skies – first one to see a shooting star gets a cup of tea in bed in the morning!
If you love being amongst the trees then The Bodgers’ is the one for you! Hidden just inside our small wood, you will find a hobbity-style roundhouse kitchen, with terrace and yurt. On those intensely hot and sunny days, it’s nice to laze in one of the hammocks under the dappled shade of the trees, or wander down to the secret deck overlooking the fields and watch the sun go down! This hideout is totally secluded so ideal for treating your partner to a special holiday.
We wanted to offer a lovely space to people who are “on a bit of a shoe-string” so we designed La Jolie Cachette. It lies nestled perfectly into the hillside and just beside it, amongst the trees sits its counterpart kitchen, cleverly converted from an old horsebox found abandoned in a field! It’s slightly more compact than our other spaces, but it has a lovely cosy feel and has all the same spectacular views and star gazing opportunities but for a little bit less dosh!
” Thank you so much for creating this wonderful place! We very much needed a break from the hustle and bustle of busy city life and that’s exactly what we got! We love the rural location, the feeling of isolation, the views, the peace and quiet, the shooting stars, fresh tomatoes, thunder and lightening and bbqing every night. Bliss! “
